Anna Kendrick is an American actress born on 9 August 1985 in Maine, Unites States. She started her career at a young age by performing in theatre productions. In 2003, she made her film debut with the musical comedy Camp and rose to fame by playing a significant role in The Twilight Saga series. Anna also stars in the famous musical series Pitch Perfect film series. She is also an occasional singer and has sung various soundtracks for her films and events like the 2013 Kennedy Center Honors. 

Early Life

Anna Kendrick was born on 9 August 1985 in Portland, Maine, United States of America. Her mother, Janice Kendrick, is an accountant and her father, William Kendrick, is a history teacher. 

She has an older brother who is an actor and appeared in the drama film Looking for an Echo in 2000. She attended Deering High School to complete her school studies.

Early Career

Anna Kendrick started her career at a young age by auditioning and performing for theatre productions in New York City. At the age of 12, she got a supporting role in the 1998 Broadway musical High Society. Her performance earned her a Theater World Award and nominations for Featured Actress in a Musical at the Drama Desk Awards and Tony Awards.

Anna made her film debut with the musical film Camp in 2003. Her performance got her a nomination for Best Debut Performance in the Independent Spirit Awards. Anna Kendrick then played an ambitious high school debater in the 2007 film Rocket Science. 

Rise To Fame

Anna Kendrick rose to fame by playing a significant role in the Twilight Saga series, a film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s novel of the same name. She played Jessica Stanley, a friend of the protagonist Bella Swan. 

Anna then played a lead role in George Clooney’s Up In The Air. She plays an ambitious college graduate. Her performance got appreciation from the critics, who called it “funny and touching.” Anna Kendrick earned the nomination for Best Supporting Actress at several awards ceremonies, including the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and BAFTA Awards. 

Other Ventures

In 2012, Anna Kendrick appeared in the cast of What To Expect When You’re Expecting. Her most successful work of 2012 was the musical comedy Pitch Perfect. 

In 2013, Anna featured in the romantic comedy-drama Drinking Buddies, which mainly received positive reviews from critics, and the largely panned fantasy comedy Rapture-Palooza.

In 2015, she reprised her role as Beca Mitchell for Pitch Perfect 2. 

Personal Life

In 2009, Anna Kendrick began dating English filmmaker Edgar Wright. They split up in March 2013. Then, in February 2014, she began dating English cinematographer Ben Richardson, and they met on the set of Drinking Buddies. The couple broke up after some time.

Anna Kendrick then dated actor Bill Hader in 2020 but broke up in July 2022. She resided in Los Angeles, California, US.
