Gauri Khan | One of the top interior designers of India

Gauri Khan is an Indian film producer and also a very successful Interior Designer. She co-founded the production company “Red Chillies Entertainment” in 2002, along with her husband, Shah Rukh Khan. She was named as one of the Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women”

Early Life

Gauri Khan was born in Delhi in a Punjabi Hindu family to Savita and Colonel Ramesh Chandra Chibber. Her original name is Gauri Chibber. She also has a brother named Vikrant Chibber. She raised in the suburbs of Panchsheel Park in Delhi. Gauri completed her schooling from Loreto Convent School and after that she went to Modern School, Vasant Vihar to complete her high school. After completion of high school, she went to the very reputed Lady Shri Ram College to pursue B.A Hons in History. Alongside, she had also taken a 6 month course in fashion design from the National Institute of Technology.

Career

Although she pursued a course in Fashion Design, Gauri Khan had an interest in Interior Design always. She expressed interest while she was renovating the Bandra Bungalow, Mannat. In 2010, she professionally got into the world of interior design with her friend Sussane Khan and they did quite a few projects together. They also did a commercial project together in Vadodara. She launched her first concept store called The Design Cell in Worli, Mumbai in 2014. The store used to showcase the furniture designed not only by her but also other famous Indian Designers.
One of the big achievements was when she invited to the Maison et Objet show in Paris to show her designs in 2016. In 2017, she launched her own design studio known as “Gauri Khan Designs” in Juhu, Mumbai. She has collaborated with big names such as Roberto Cavalli and Ralph Lauren for home accessories. For her exceptional achievements in the field of interior design, she awarded with the Excellence in Design Award at the Hello! Hall of Fame Awards.
In 2017, she curated a collection of designer lights for TISVA which is a premium home decor light brand from Usha International Limited.

Coming to her production house, she and Shah Rukh Khan had founded the company Red Chilies Entertainment. She the main producer of all the films produced under the banner. Her first film, Main Hoon Na became the 2nd Highest Grossing Film of the year. Apart from this, Red Chillies have produced many movies over the years which include, Badla, Dear Zindagi, Don 2, Devdas, Om Shanti Om, and many more.

Personal Life

Gauri Khan met Shah Rukh Khan for the first time in 1984 in Delhi. SRK was not popular when the two of them met. They married on 25th October, 1991 in a traditional Hindu Wedding.
They have two sons named Aryan Khan and Abram Khan and one daughter named Suhana Khan.
