Zareen Khan, also known as Zarine Khan, is an Indian model and actress since 2010. Predominantly working in the Hindi film industry, the actress has also made appearances in Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi films. Most famous of her works include item numbers Character Dheela and malgove and films, Hate Story 3, Veer and Housefull 2.
Early Life
Born on May 14, 1987, Zareen Khan belongs to Mumbai, The city of dreams. Descendant of a Pathan family, she lived with her parents and sister. She has a conservative Muslim family who has ancestral roots in Afghanistan.
Zareen attended Duruelo convent High school, Mumbai for primary and Higher Education. Following this, she became a part of Rizvi college of science for her graduation. Initially, Zareen wanted to be a doctor, but her poor financial conditions forced her to drop out from college.
Career
Zareen Khan’s career began when she caught the attention of Salman Khan on the set of the film Yuvraj. The actress impressed him so much that he decided to cast her for his friend Anil Sharma’s film Veer. Salman said, “She looks the character – the sweet princess she is playing in Veer”. This was followed by a screen test, which fetched her the lead role of Princess Yashodhara. Preparing for the film, Zareen lost 8 kgs to look more like a 19th-century princess. Unfortunately, the film did not go very well but Khan’s performance received both positive and negative reviews from critics & audience. Taran Adarsh wrote, “Zarine resembles Katrina Kaif, but wears one expression all through”, whereas Subhash K Jha says, “Zarine’s charm adds to her adorable screen presence.” As a result, Her performance fetched her first nomination for Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut.
Up next, In 2011, Zareen appeared in the famous Item number “Character Dheela” alongside Salman Khan in the film Ready. It was the highest-grossing film of the year 2011.
Breakthrough
In 2012, Zareen Khan’s second film Housefull 2 got released on April 5. It was a romantic comedy-drama film by Sajid Khan. She starred in the role of JLo who is the love interest of Jolly, played by Ritesh Deshmukh. Zareen was well appraised for her performance and The film was also a super hit success with a collection of over 1.86 billion. As a result, it emerged as one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2012. Critic Taran Adarsh wrote, “Zarine act more as eye candy. She appears typical sultry and enticing selves, and is befitting in her own space.”
Apart from this, Zareen walked as the showstopper for jewellery brand YS18 at India International Jewellery Week in 2012. The following year She made her debut in Tamil Cinema with the film Naan Rajavaga Pogiren. Her performance was very well-reviewed.
Present
The Year 2015 saw Zareen Khan in the erotic thriller Hate Story 3. It was a great success and as a result, she began getting further recognitions. Next Year, Actress appeared in the video of an item number of the film Veerappan.
Later, In the years 2017 and 2018, Zareen appeared in the film Aksar 2, where she was seen romancing Gautam Rode. And next, she did the horror film 1921.
In 2019, actress made her debut in Telugu cinema with the film Chanakya.
Recently, In 2020, Zareen Khan appeared in the film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele alongside Anshuman Jha. It was a story based on Homosexuality and showcased a love story of homosexuals.
