Olivia Rodrigo is an American singer-songwriter born on 20 February 2003. At a very young age, Olivia achieved more than anyone can imagine. Olivia Rodrigo started her career by playing the lead role in Disney show Bizaardvark. She has released many hit songs like Driver’s License and Deja Vu.

Early Life

Olivia Isabel Rodrigo was born on 20 February 2003 in Murrieta, California. She is biracial with her father being Filipino-American and mother being German-Irish. 

Ever since she was a little girl, Olivia has loved music and singing. She is a big fan of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and has joked about how “Taylor Swift’s music practically raised her.” Olivia took vocal classes when she was in kindergarten. After landing her role in Bizaardwark, she moved to Los Angeles.

Career

Olivia Rodrigo starred in the Disney + hit shows High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, her performance was highly appreciated on the show. Critics called her “especially magnetic.”

In 2020, Olivia signed with Interscope Records and Geffen Records. Walking in the footprints of her idol, Taylor Swift she negotiated her deal so she could own her masters fully. In the same year, Olivia started working on her debut album.

On 8 January Driver’s License came out as the first single from Olivia Rodrigo’s upcoming album. Driver’s License became a huge hit as soon as it came out, the song broke Spotify’s record twice for most streams in a day. It debuted on Billboard Hot 100 in numerous countries.

In April, Olivia released the sophomore single from the album called Deja Vu, it debuted at number eight on Billboard Hot 100. It made Olivia the first artist ever to have two singles on the chart.

Following the success of the first two singles, Good 4 U was released as the third from the album, it became her second single to debut at number one. 

Finally, on 21 May 2021, the most anticipated album Sour came out. Just like the singles released previously, the album did not disappoint. Olivia Rodrigo earned a huge amount of fame and appreciation from both critics and fans. The critics called the album “The most coming of age album since early Taylor Swift and Lorde.” Sour reached number on Billboard Hot 200 and rested there for a total of 5 weeks.

On 6 December, Olivia announced that she will be going on a tour. On 25 March 2022, a disney+ documentary known as Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U was released by Olivia in which she showed the making process of her debut album.

Achievements

Olivia Rodrigo is a seven-time Grammy-nominated artist, including the prestigious Album of the year category. She is a three-time Grammy-winning artist at the young age of 19. Olivia Rodrigo is the winner of Best New Artist, Song of the year for Driver’s License, and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sour.

She has broken the record of having most songs at the Top 10 by a female artist on Billboard charts.
