Alia Bhatt | Versatile Bollywood Actress

Alia Bhatt is an Indian actress and the Daughter of famous Director Mahesh Bhatt. She works with Bollywood since she made a child debut in the film Sangharsh. She rose to fame with her debut film Student of the year, followed by 2 states and Humpty Sharma ki dulhania. Most famous of her works include, Raazi, Gully Boy, Dear Zindagi, Badrinath ki Dulhania and Udta Punjab. Up until now, Alia has 4 awards and recognitions which are from Filmfare. Also, she appeared in 2014 Forbes India Celebrity 100.

Early Life

Born on March 15, 1993, Alia Bhatt is the daughter of director Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan.  She grew up in a family of six, her parents, an elder sister Shaheen and half-siblings, Pooja and Rahul. Apart from that, Emraan Hashmi and director Mohit Suri are her paternal cousins.
Alia was educated at Jamnabai Narsee School. Having a family that belongs to Bollywood, It was pretty obvious for Alia to step into the Indian Film industry. Actress says she was into acting from a very young age. She realised it while rehearsing for the school choir in kindergarten.

Career

Alia Bhatt began her acting journey with the Karan Johar film Student of the year. She starred alongside Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra in this romantic comedy-drama. Her role was of a sophisticated teenage girl in a love triangle. As a result of earning over 960 million, the film emerged as a commercial success.
Then, To seek a better role, Alia did the film Highway in 2014. She is featured as a lonely teenage girl who develops Stockholm syndrome after being abducted. The film underperformed, but her performance was appraised. She even won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.

Breakthrough

In 2014, Alia Bhatt continued her contract with Karan Johar and made two films. First, 2 states was a romantic comedy-drama, in which she starred alongside Arjun Kapoor. Both of them were from very different cultures and fell in love. It was an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name. Second, Humpty Sharma ki dulhaniya was also a romantic comedy film in which Alia paired up with Varun Dhawan. The films collected 1.75 billion and 119 crores respectively. As a result, Both of these films were a critical and commercial success.

In 2015, Alia appeared in the romantic comedy Shandaar, in a reunion with Bahl. She starred alongside Shahid Kapoor. Both of them were insomniacs and fell in love during a destination wedding. But the film did not go well.  Next year, Alia made an appearance with Siddharth Malhotra again in the family drama Kapoor and Sons. It was a great success.

Present

In 2020, Alia Bhatt appeared in the film Sadak 2, a sequel to her father’s film. Unfortunately, it could not release on Theatres due to Covid 19 Pandemic. The death of Sushant Singh added fule to the fire. his fans blamed Alia because she is one of the beneficiaries of nepotism. It led to vote-brigading on the trailer on YouTube. As a result, it became the second most disliked video.

Recently, In 2022, Alia Bhatt worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and appeared as a titular prostitute in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi. It premiered at 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. The film and Alia’s performance received amazing reviews. NDTV wrote, “the actress puts all doubts to rest with a marvellously lively performance”. As a result, It collected over 191 crores.
