Early Life

Born on 1 May 1998, Anushka Sharma is the second child of Colonel Ajay Kumar Sharma, an army officer and Ashima Sharma. Belonging to Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, Anushka lived in a small family consisting of her parents, grandmother and elder brother Karnesh. Being a daughter of a Military officer, She was shaped as a disciplined person from the very beginning. More than being a successful actress, Anushka takes pride in stating that she is a military brat.

Anushka did her early schooling days at St. Mary’s School, Margherita, Assam. Being brought up in Bangalore, She finalised her schooling at Army School, Bangalore. She enrolled in Mount Carmel College Bangalore for an undergraduate arts course. Surprisingly, Anushka never aspired to be an actress. Instead, she wanted to grow as a model or journalist.

Career

Initially, Anushka Sharma had no intentions to step into Bollywood. After her graduation, she settled in Mumbai for beginning her career as a model. As a result, she enrolled at Elite Model Management. It was in 2007 for the designer Wendell Rodricks when Anushka made her debut runway at Lakme Fashion Week.
Following which she emerged in brand campaigns for Silk & shine, Whisper, Nathella Jewelry and Fiat Palio.

Acting Career

The year 2008 witnessed Anushka Sharma’s debut film “Rab ne bana di Jodi” opposite Shahrukh Khan. Her performance and the film went well enough to invite appraisals. Being a major commercial success, The film became the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of that year.

Additionally, Anushka was nominated for Filmfare awards: Best Actress and Best female debut.
Following her contract of three films, She appeared in Badmaash Company. And later finalised the agreement with her appearance in the movie Band Baaja Baaraat. Anushka played the role of a Punjabi girl, for which she learnt the Punjabi dialect. She stated this as the most difficult part. The film was a sleeper hit, and Anushka’s performance received comprehensive appraisals and gained her second Filmfare nomination for Best Actress.

Up next, she featured in the film Patiala House in 2011. Rediff.com praised her, commenting, “Metaphor for energy ”. In the same year, Anushka came up for the comedy-drama film Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Recipient of mixed reviews, the film was a mild financial success.

Following this, Anushka Sharma did a supporting role in the third highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2012, Jab tak hai Jaan. CNN-IBN writes, “she brings a spark to the film”.
Later, Anushka was in a political satire, Matru ki Bijli ka Mandola. The film was well reviewed but wasn’t a financial hit.

Breakthrough

Anushka Sharma happened to experience her breakthrough in the years after 2014. In 2014, she played the lead role of a journalist in the film PK. She backed an alien, who Aamir Khan played. Both the film and Anushka’s performance received critical acclaim. The film flooded the box office with earnings of over 7 Billion. As a result of which it became Highest grossing Bollywood Film.
Eventually, Anushka Sharma set up her production company, Clean Slate Filmz, in 2015. And the first film she produced happened to be the thriller NH10, in which she played the lead role. The film received both commercial and financial success. And also, it screened at the 5th Beijing International Film Festival.

Subsequently, Anushka Sharma has kept entertaining the audience for years till now.
The crime drama Bombay Velvet in 2015, Dil dhadakne Do, Sports drama ‘Sultan’ in 2016, romantic Drama ‘Ae dil hai mushkil’, fantasy comedy ‘Phillauri’ in 2017, Jab harry met Sejal, Sanju and Sui dhaga were her appearances ahead. Flooding the box office with earnings of over 5 billion, the sultan emerged on the list of Indian cinema’s biggest grossers. Eventually, the two top-grossing films of 2016 made Anushka Sharma the most successful Bollywood actress of the year.
