Camila Cabello is a Cuban-born American singer and songwriter. Her success story is about defying the odds and being your true self. She has a record of singing with a band and as a solo artist. Camila is famous for her voice notes and the voice manipulations in her songs. She has collaborated with numerous legendary singers to date.
Early Life
On March 3, 1997, Camila Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba. Her birth name is Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao. She has a younger sister named Sofia. Camila spent most of her life in Cojimar, East Havana, Cuba.
Since her childhood, her family has traveled a lot due to their parents’ jobs. But finally, when she was six, they got settled in Miami, Florida, USA. For the initial month, they stayed with their mom. Later, after 18 months, their dad joined them in Miami.
Camila went to Miami Palmetto High School, but she dropped out of school in the 9th grade to focus on her singing. But later, she managed to get a high school degree. Camilla got her American citizenship in 2008.
In 2012 she auditioned for The X Factor’s TV show; she sang Respect by Aretha Franklin. She got eliminated during the boot camp and was about to go back to Miami. But later, she was called back along with other singers Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren, and Dinah Jane. They formed a girl group called Fifth Harmony. They ranked the second runner-up in the competition. But the girl group was signed by Syco Music which Simon Cowell owns.
Career
Camilla gave several hits with Fifth Harmony like Reflection in 2015, Worth it, Work from Home, and many more. So many songs from their albums landed in the top ten of the international charts. It has a rank among the best girl groups ever to exist. But Camila wasn’t comfortable being part of that group anymore. Her inner turmoil made her tense because she wanted to create something new, but the band rules didn’t allow her that freedom. She left Fifth Harmony in 2016.
Though Camilla left that group, it wasn’t easy for her to explain why she left the band to her fans. Both sides had different explanations for her departure. After her tough decision, she got a lot of backlashes, but she didn’t give up. She started collaborating with solo singers like DJ Cashmere Cat, Pitbull, J. Balvin, etc. Finally, in May 2017, she announced her first studio album named “The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving.” Her first solo single, ‘crying in the club,’ was released on May 19, 2017. This song was a hit; she made it to the top 50s of the Billboard. Later, she collaborated with Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic World tour and Guess the clothing brand.
“Havana” was the song that changed her career. This song ranked number one in Australia, Canada, The United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Hungary, and the United States. It was in the Top 40 for seven weeks straight. Apart from being a singer and songwriter, Camila has also tried acting. She was the lead actress in the musical movie Cinderella released on Amazon Prime.

Life Lessons
Camilla has off and often faced cyber bullying because of her body. She has been criticized for not being the ideal shape of a woman. When she was touring around the world for her albums people made jokes about her costumes. But Camilla has always provided people with lessons of body positivity. In her Instagram post she addressed this bullying and told people “When I feel myself going on Instagram, I feel gross. I feel sick. Like, I wanna delete it because it makes me too self-conscious, and it makes me have this weird feeling. I’m like, ugh. It’s like [there’s] something in me, that’s like: ‘That’s not how I want you to live your life,’ you know?”
Everyone out there needs to know that everyone is human and everyone has got their own features. Every girl doesn’t have to be a perfect hourglass she can be curvy and still be the finest. Like Camila Cabello once said “I am grateful for this body that lets me do what I need to do,” she explained. “We are real women with curves and cellulite and stretch marks and fat and we gotta own that baby!”
