Early Life


Born on August 24, 1977, John Green is the son of Mike & Sydney Green. He belongs to Indianapolis, but soon after his birth, his family shifted to Michigan, Later to Birmingham, Alabama and ultimately settled in Orlando, Florida.
As a result, John Green joined various educational institutions. After attending Glenridge Middle School and Lake Highland Preparatory School at Orlando, John attended Indian Springs School and graduated in 1995.

The Indian Springs was his inspiration for his first book Looking for Alaska.
Along with enrolling in the University of Chicago Divinity School, John Green worked as a student chaplain at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, for five months. In the hospital, he went through some traumatic experiences, like children suffering life-threatening illnesses. This made him change his way. This ordeal made him an author as this made him write, “The fault in our stars”.

Career

Writing

John Green’s debut novel “Looking for Alaska” was published in the year 2005. The story involves Teen romance and is based in a school.
The readers gave a fantastic response, and eventually, American Library Association awarded the novel Michael L. Printz Award. It was announced as “best book written for teens, based entirely on its literary merit.” In addition, it appeared in the “Top 10 Best Books for Young Adults” list by ALA. As his reader’s group expanded more and more, the novel reached a significant number. As a result, it was featured in Hulu Series of year 2019.

John’s second novel, An Abundance of Katherines got released in 2006. It emerged as a successful story again. As a result of which, it became the runner up for the Printz Award and Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist.,
Following this, his third book, Paper Towns, came on the reader’s list in 2008. It listed Fifth on The New York Times Best Seller list. And, it became successful enough for being released as a film in the year 2015.

Afterwards, he published the novels Will Grayson, Will Grayson and Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances, collaborating with his author friends. Both of these stories were highly successful. Will Grayson, Will Grayson Will Grayson was the first LGBT-themed young adult novel to make it to the list of The New York Times children’s best-sellers.

Breakthrough

Finally, the most famous and heartwarming novel of John Green, “The fault in our stars“, launched in the year 2012. It ranked on Number 01 position in the list of The New York Times Best Seller. This story of two cancer patients healing each other at life was worth everybody’s attention. So Finally, in the year 2014, the film ” The Fault in our stars” was released and gained critical appraisals.

After a break from social media, in 2017, John Green entered back with the launch of his book ”Turtles all the way down”. #1 on the New York Bestseller list, The book proved to be another great work of the author.
