She is fourth among seven daughters of Mohammed Kaif, a British Businessman and Suzanne, an English lawyer.

Katrina Kaif had no influence of her father over her as she grew up Because her parents separated. It was her mother who raised all her girls. Her father moved to the United States and never connected. Her mother wanted to devote her life to social causes, which resulted in their relocation to several countries. This relocation disturbed her studies as Katrina Kaif and her siblings had to take home tutoring wherever they resided

Katrina Kaif, while feeling nostalgia for her father’s absence, states, “When I see friends who have wonderful fathers who are like pillars of support for their families, I say, if only I had that. But instead of complaining, I should be grateful for all the other things I have”.

She made her debut in 2003 with an English-Hindi erotic heist film BOOM with the greatest of actors, Amitabh Bacchan, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff and Padma Lakshmi.

The film was first screened at the Canvas Film Festival and was widely promoted at the event. Consequently, there were more and more projects for her to work upon, which was why she decided to stay in India. But soon after the movie BOOM, “Kat was written off due to her poor Hindi and thick British accent”, as published by the Hindustan Times. Later she gives a statement that shows her denial that this film was an essential part of her life.

I don’t count Boom among important happenings in my life. When I signed this film, I didn’t know much about India and its film audience.” Says Katrina Kaif .

Soon after solidifying her modelling career in India, she endorsed brands like Coca-Cola, Samsung, Fevicol and LG. Even though she was getting a good amount of modelling assignments, filmmakers were still resistant to cast her. She began taking Hindi classes. But after first failure in Hindi cinema, she got into a Telugu film Malliswari. And she got the highest salary for a south Indian actress. Her criticisms subsided after this victory.
