Prithika DasParineeti Chopra is an Indian actress who primarily works in the Hindi Film Industry. She did playback singing for a few of her films. She is well known for ‘Ishaqzaade’, ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’, etc.
Personal Life
Parineeti Chopra was born on 22nd October 1988 in Ambala, Haryana. She was born in a Punjabi Hindu family. Her father’s name is Pawan Chopra and her mother’s name is Reena Chopra. Her father is a businessman and supplier to the Indian Army. Parineeti also has two brothers Shilang and Sahaj.
Parineeti did her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Ambala. She was a bright student since her childhood and secured AIR #1 in the SSC exams. At the age of 17, she moved to the UK and received a triple honours degree in business, finance and economics from Manchester Business School. She is also a trained classical Indian singer and has a B.A. Honours in Music. While Parineeti was studying in Manchester, she worked at Manchester United Football Club as the team leader of the catering department. She wanted to work as an Investment Banker. She was not getting a job because of the economic recession in the UK. Parinneti came back to India in 2009.
Career
After coming back to India she joined Yash Raj Films as a Public-relations consultant. During the promotion of ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, she found her interest in acting and wanted to act. She resigned from the PR consultant post at YRF. Parineeti joined an acting school and took proper training. She gave a dummy audition for the character Geet in ‘Jab We Met’. Aditya Chopra found the clip by accident and he loved her acting then she signed for three films.
She made her debut in the film ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’, in a supporting role. The film received mixed reviews but her work was highly appreciated. Especially her acting was really praised by the critics. Her second film was ‘Ishaqzaade’ a lead role opposite Arjun Kapoor. The film became a huge success at the box office. She got a lot of appreciation and also received awards for this film. Her next movie was ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ which was again a successful movie. In 2014 she acted in the romantic comedy ‘Hasee Toh Phasee ’, which was opposite Sidharth Malhotra. Her film ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’ also received mixed reviews from critics. She took a break for 3 years after a few of her unsuccessful films.
Her Comeback
She made her comeback in 2017 and paired opposite Ayushmann Khurana in the romantic drama ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’. She also sang her first Bollywood song in the film. The film did not make a huge impact during its release. But in recent years it became famous and got a very positive review. Next, she starred opposite Ajay Devgn in ‘Golmaal Again’, which was the fourth film in the Golmaal franchise. The film became one of the highest-grossing films of all time. She also did a few more films in 2019 like ‘Kesari’ , and ‘Jabariya Jodi’. In 2021 she did the biographical sports drama ‘Saina’, which was based on Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal.
She made her digital debut on Netflix for the film ‘The Girl on the Train’ based on the British Novel which is of the same name. Her performance was appreciated by both critics and the audience.
Singing Career
Apart from being an amazing actor, she is a beautiful singer. her first song was ‘Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahi’ both the female and the duet versions in 2017. Next, she sang the female version of ‘Teri Mitti’ for the film Kesari. Her recent song is ‘Matlabi Yariyan’ for her film ‘The Girl on the Train’.
Awards and Achievements
Parineeti won 27 awards and 57 nominations. She even won a National award for the film ‘Ishaqzaade’. She also won awards like Filmfare, IIFA awards and many more.
