Taylor Lautner is an American actor and model born on 11 February 1992 in Michigan, United States. He rose to fame by playing a shapeshifter in the Twilight Saga series. In the late 2000s, Taylor became a teen idol due to his incredible acting and phenomenal physique in the series. In 2010, he was ranked second on Glamour‘s “The 50 Sexiest Men of 2010” list and fourth on People‘s “Most Amazing Bodies” list. Also, in the same year, he was named the highest-paid teenage actor in Hollywood.

Early Life

Taylor Lautner was born on 11 February 1992 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the United States of America, to Deborah and Daniel Lautner. His mother works for a software development company, while his father is a Midwest Airlines pilot.

Taylor grew up along with his younger sister, Makena. He started doing Karate at the age of six. A year later, he attended the national karate tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, where he met Michael Chaturantabut, the founder of Xtreme Martial Arts. Taylor Lautner was a black belt by the age of eight.

He was balancing Karate and acting and kept flying out of Michigan to LA for auditions. After that became tiring, Taylor Lautner and his family moved to California for a month to try it out before moving to Santa Clarita, California, in 2002.

Career Beginnings

During his first few months in Los Angeles, Taylor Lautner appeared in minor television roles and commercials. In 2002, he earned his first significant role in The Adventure of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3D. Taylor spent three months in Austin, Texas, shooting for the film. The film got negative reviews and was a minor hit but made Taylor famous.

 In 2006 he appeared in the show Love Inc. and the TV special He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown. Two years later, Taylor Lautner appeared in a lead role in the short-lived NBC drama My Own Worst Enemy, portraying Christian Slater’s son, Jack Spivey.

Breakthrough

In 2007, the casting for the role of Jacob Black began, a native American who is a friend of the lead character Bella Swan in the Twilight Saga series. Taylor Lautner had no idea of the series but went to audition due to being urged by his agent. He was selected for the role shortly.

The film was a commercial success and earned $69 million at the box office. At the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Taylor Lautner got a nomination for Male Breakthrough Performance, which co-star Robert Pattinson won.

Taylor earned a lot of appreciation and fame due to his physical appearance in the movies, primarily by teenage girls. He and his co-star Robert Pattinson became teen idols. Between working in Twilight, Taylor Lautner also played one of the leads in Valentine’s Day along with his then-girlfriend, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. The film grossed an amount of $213 million, mainly because of the popularity of the couple.

Personal Life

During the filming of Valentine’s Day, Taylor Lautner began dating his co-star, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. The couple broke a year later, and Taylor Swift wrote the song, Back To December, about him in her album, Speak Now. 

 After filming Abduction with Lily Collins, he began dating her in November 2010. Since 2018, Taylor has been dating a nurse from California, Taylor Dome. The couple got engaged and made an announcement via Instagram on 13 November 2021.
