Mahesh Babu is an Indian actor, producer, media personality and also philanthropist. He mainly works around Telugu Cinema and owns his own production house named G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment. Mahesh has made appearances in more than 25 films and had won several accolades for his performance. With eight Nandi Awards, Five Filmfare South Awards, Four South Indian International Movie Awards, three CineMAA Awards and one IIFA Utsavam Award, Mahesh rules the world of Telugu Cinema.
Early Life
Born on August 9, 1975, Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu is the son of actor Krishna and Indira. Belonging to Madras, Chennai, Mahesh grew up in a family of eight: His parents, grandmother, elder siblings Ramesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula and younger sister Priyadarshini.
Mahesh did his schooling from St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Chennai. Following this, he attended Loyola College, Chennai and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. Later, Mahesh began taking acting trainings for next three to four months.
Career
Mahesh Babu began his acting journey at the mere age of four. He reached on the sets of Telugu film Needa were shot a few sequences of his as a part of the narrative in the presence of the former’s brother Ramesh. So, Needa in 1979 was his child debut film.
Next, in 1983, Mahesh caught the attention of Director Kodi Ramakrishna on the set of the film Poratam. Director suggested casting him as the brother of the protagonist. Initially, the actor was terrified, but in the end, he agreed and it led to the beginning of his journey as a child actor.
Thereafter, Mahesh appeared in the films Shankharavam, Bazaar Rowdy, Mugguru Kodukulu and Gudachari. Following this Ramesh continued his college studies.
Debut
In 1999, Mahesh Babu came back and made his debut with the film Raja Kumarudu, alongside actress Preity Zinta. It was a commercially successful film and Mahesh’s performance was well-reviewed. As a result, people began referring to him as Prince. It earned over 10 crores from Andhra Pradesh and became popular all over the country. As a result, the film was dubbed in Hindi as Prince no. 1 and in Tamil as Kaadhal Vennila. Mahesh gained the Nandi Award for Best Male Debut for his wonderful performance.
In the following year, Mahesh starred in two films consecutively: Yuvaraju and Vamsi. Unfortunately, Both of them performed poorly at the box office. Up next, Actor appeared in the film Murari. He said it was one of the most important films of his career and the role also was one of his favourites. Being a big commercial success, Murari earned him Nandi Special Jury Award.
Present
The year 2018 saw Mahesh with actress Kiara Advani in Bharat Ane Nenu, a political action drama. It emerged as a superhit success with a gross collection of over 172 crores. As a result, it became the second highest-grossing film of that year. In the following year, Ramesh appeared in Maharshi, an Action-drama film. This was also a great success with overall collection of over 175 crores. The film won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and fetched Mahesh his fourth SIIMA Award for Best Actor – Telugu.
In 2020, Mahesh appeared in the film Sarileru Neekevvaru which emerged as a superhit success. It collected over 260 crores at the worldwide box office and as a result, appeared to be one of the highest-grossing Telugu films.
