Emma Watson was born on 15 April 1990 in Paris, France, to English lawyers Jaqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. She lived in Paris until the age of five. When her parents divorced, she went to live with her mother and brother in England. 

From the age of six, Emma wanted to become an actress. She went for training in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school where she studied singing, dancing, and acting.

By the time she was ten years old, Emma Watson had performed in school plays, including Arthur: The Young Years and The Happy Prine but the Harry Potter series was her first professional work.

When the casting began for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the casting agents found Emma Watson through her Oxford theatre teacher. After eight auditions, Emma got the role of Hermione Granger. With Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint playing Harry Potter and Ron Weasly, respectively.

The film was released in 2001 and proved to be a blockbuster. The series continued with films like Harry Potter and the Chambers of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Emma Watson earned much praise and appreciation from the critics and audience.

The filming of the last two parts of the series started on 18 February 2010. Deathly Hallows Part-1 came out in November 2010, and Deathly Hallows Part-2 came out in July 2011. The last movie of the franchise became a commercial hit. It grossed more than $2 billion and is Emma Watson’s most successful film to date.

In May 2010, Emma Watson signed Stephen Chbosky’s Perks Of Being A Wallflower, a movie based on the 1999 novel of the same name. 

In 2017, Emma played Belle in the live-action Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, directed by Bill Condon and starring Dan Stevens as the Beast. The film grossed over $1.2 billion at the box office and became the year’s highest-grossing film. In 2019, she came into the role of Meg March in the film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women.

In 2022, Watson reunited with multiple cast members of the Harry Potter film series for an HBO Max special titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Emma Watson spends time in London and New York City. She is very private and refuses to speak about her relationships publicly. She has been in a relationship with American businessman Leo Robinton since 2019.
