Josh Radnor | Success Story Of The Charming and Funny American Actor

Josh Radnor is an American actor, author, filmmaker, and musician born on 29 July 1974 in Ohio, United States. He is famous for playing Ted Mosby on the popular Emmy Award-winning CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. In 2010, Josh made his directorial and writing debut with Happythankyoumoreplease, a comedy-drama film. He won the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award and went to the nomination for the grand jury prize.

Early Life

Josh Radnor was born 29 July 1974 in Colombus, Ohio, United States, to Carol Radno, a high school guidance counselor, and Alan Radnor, a medical malpractice lawyer. He grew up with two sisters, Melanie Radnor Silverman and Joanna Radnor Vilensky.

Josh went to Orthodox Jewish day school Columbus Torah Academy before going to Bexley High School to get his high school diploma. He attended Kenyon College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama in 1996. In 1999, Josh Radnor completed his Master of Fine Arts in acting from New York University’s graduate acting program at the Tisch School of the Arts. 

Film Career

Josh Radnor was cast as the lead in the WB series Off-Centre, but Eddie Kaye Thomas replaced him before the show’s first episode even aired. In 2002, he made his Broadway debut in the stage version of The Graduate, succeeding Jason Biggs, opposite Kathleen Turner and Alicia Silverstone. After that, Josh played Ted Mosby in How I Met Your Mother from 2005 to 2014.

Josh Radnor made his directorial debut with Happythankyoumoreplease in 2010. His second directorial film, Liberal Arts, starred him and Elizabeth Olsen and got a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. 

Musical Career

In October 2016, Josh Radnor confirmed being in a band Radnor and Lee with Australian musician Ben Lee. On 10 November 2017, their debut album Radnor & Lee came out. The duo’s second album, Golden State, came out on 19 February 2020. 

On 16 April 2021, Josh Radnor released his solo debut EP, One More then I’ll Let You Go.

Personal Life

In 2008, Radnor told the Los Angeles Times, “I do Transcendental Meditation, and part of the reason I chose my house is that I thought it would be a great place to meditate.”

Radnor is an avid Cloud Cult fan. He collaborated with the band to make the film The Seeker in 2016. Radnor explained, “What’s true for me about a lot of music, but especially true for Cloud Cult’s music, is that it stirs up the thing that’s already in you and calls it out. If this film can do that, I’ll sleep well at night.”
