Megan Thee Stallion was born as Megan Jovon Ruth Pete on 15 February 1995 in Texas, United States. She is an American rapper and songwriter. She gained public attention when her freestyling became popular on platforms like Instagram. In 2018, Megan released a mix tape Fever and an extended play Suga. Both reached the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Her debut studio album, Good News, came out in 2020 and earned the appreciation of critics and the audience. Megan has also collaborated with famous artists like Beyonce and Ariana Grande.

Early Life

Megan Thee Stallion was born on 15 February 1995 in San Antonio, Texas, United States of America. Her mother, Holly Thomas, immediately moved to Houston after her birth. Megan started writing raps at the age of fourteen. 

Megan went to Pearland High School and completed her high school diploma in 2013. Her father passed away during her first year of high school. After finishing school, she went to Prairie View A&M University. At college, she began uploading freestyling videos on social media, gaining popularity on the platform. 

Megan Thee Stallion took some time off school and began her studies at Texas State University. She graduated on 11 December 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in health administration.

Career Beginnings

In April 2016, Megan Thee Stallion released her first single, Like a Stallion. This was followed by the tiny SoundCloud-exclusive mixtapes of Rich Ratchet (2016) and Megan Mix (2017). In September 2017, Megan Thee Stallion made her professional solo debut with the commercially released EP Make It Hot.

In 2017, Megan Thee Stallion released the song Stalli (Freestyle) as a rework of late musician XXXTentacion’s Look at Me! 

Breakthrough

In January 2020, Megan Thee Stallion’s Diamonds with Normani came out. The same month, she announced her debut EP Suga. The lead single from the album was B.I.T.C.H. 

On 1 November 2020, Megan Thee Stallion announced the release of her debut studio album Good News, which came out on 20 November 2020. The album debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, with over 100,000 album-equivalent units sold. On 14 January 2021, Megan Thee Stallion was featured on the remix of Ariana Grande’s single 34+35, the second single from her sixth studio album, Positions, alongside American singer and rapper Doja Cat.

Present

Megan Thee Stallion’s collaboration with Dua Lipa, Sweetest Pie, came out on 11 March 2022. Outside of music, on 15 February 2022, she announced launching a nonprofit, the Pete and Thomas Foundation, in honor of her late parents, Holly Thomas & Joseph Pete Jr. The foundation seeks to help underserved communities in Houston, Texas, and beyond with education, housing, and health and wellness needs.

On 11 August 2022, Megan, via Twitter, announced the release of her second album, Traumazine. The album came out the next day.
