Early Life

On February 20, 1988, Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born in Saint Michael, Barbados. She has two siblings, and her mom and dad are of mixed race. Rihanna had a troubled childhood & had to go through some tough times as an individual. Her mom and dad divorced when she was just 14. Also, she witnessed her mom physically and mentally abused by her dad.

During her childhood, she had numerous  CT scans because of her headache. In an interview, she revealed, “The doctors even thought it was a tumor because it was that intense.”

She completed her schooling at Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary School and later at Combermere School. Then she joined the sub-military program, where she met her drill sergeant, Barbadian singer-songwriter Shontelle. Though she wanted to complete high school, she discarded the idea of becoming a singer.

Career

Rihanna listened to reggae music all her childhood; she had a passion for music. In the year 2003, she formed a musical trio with her classmates.

Even Rogers, an American record producer, scouted Rihanna. Later for her auditions, she sang Destiny’s Child’s emotion and Mariah Carey’s Hero. After this, Rogers took Rihanna to the USA, and they recorded some of the demo tapes. Rihanna’s demo tape songs were shipped to Def jam recordings. Jay Brown and Jay-Z hold the demo. Both of them were immediately impressed by Rihanna’s performance, and she signed the contract.

In 2005 she first debuted in her first song, ‘Pon de play’ & it broke all the records and became one of the favorite songs for a dance club. This is how her legacy started, and today she has eight studio albums. Until now, she has sold over 250 million records globally.

Rihanna entered the fragrance business in 2011, and she rocked it well. She had a line of fragrances released for men and women. Also, her first perfume Reb’l Fleur grossed more than US$80 million by the end. She is one of the sixteen artists who co-own Tidal as stakeholders. Apart from Rihanna, singers like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Madonna, Chris Martin, Nicki Minaj, and more co-own the company.

She is the owner & founder of luxury brand Fenty. Her brand comes under the luxury fashion group LVMH. Rihanna is the first woman of color to be a leading contributor at LVMH. But when the pandemic started worldwide, Rihanna and LVMH planned to put other projects on hold and focus on the SavagexFenty lingerie line also that her brand has collaborated with numerous brands like Puma, MAC Cosmetics, etc.

Currently, she’s in Los Angeles taking care of her baby and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Moreover, in August 2022, Rihanna and Eminem’s single, “The Monster,” surpassed 750 million streams on Spotify. The iconic duo released the song in 2013. It was the fourth single from Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.” Concurrently, Eminem launched his greatest hits albums featuring Rihanna and other iconic artists. The album features two singles with Rihanna. The commercial and critical hits “Love the way you lie” and “The Monster.” However, Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky have been trying to avoid public events and paparazzi.
