Tushar Kalia | Success story of Indian Dancer and Choreographer

Tushar Kalia is an Indian choreographer and dancer. He is popularly known for judging the panel of the reality show Dance Deewane.

Early Life Tushar Kalia

Tushar was born on March 6,1986 in Chandigarh. Being the son of a Kathak Dancer, he began dancing at an early age. Tushar was trained under the guidance of Shri Santosh Nair, the creative director of ‘Sadhya Unit of Performing Arts’. Further, Tushar also got training from a Canadian choreographer for Ariel technique dancing. He specializes in Mayurbhanj Chhau, Kalari and contemporary dance. For his higher education, Tushar attended Ryan International School, Noida. Following which he became a part of esteemed University of Delhi for his graduation.

Career

Tushar Kalia needed a little exposure before actually starting to work as a Bollywood choreographer. For which He worked with a company that organized shows all over the world. Following this Tushar made appearance in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla ja as a contestant. He participated with his partner Ekta Kaul. But after a couple of weeks Tushar eliminated. Fortunately, He got to come into the competition again through the wildcard entry. And this time he came with his new partner Sana Saeed. Up next, Tushar starred in the next season, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja 7 with the graceful dancer Shakti Mohan. His appearance in both of these dance shows put him in limelight. His choreography received broad level appreciations.

As a result of appearing in these shows, which were apparently judged by Karan Johar, Tushar got the chance to choreograpgh in Karan’s films. His first choreography was for “The Breakup Song” of the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Following which, We got to see his work in the films Vaani Music Video for Yrf [Yaarmananani], Half Girlfriend, Qarib Qarib single, Ok Jaanu, Hate story 4 and Dhadak [2018]. Also, Tushar has collaborated with international choreographers and performed for a production titled, “Motherland” in birmingham, England. Later, he made an onscreen appearnace in the dance film ABCD: AnyBody Can Dance. Tushar is also known for being a judge at the dance reality show Dance Deewane which streamed on ColorsTV.

Awards and Achievements

He is undoubtedly one of the finest choreographers and has received many awards for his this. He won the Screen Award for Best Choreography in 2019. In 2020, Tushar won the IIFA Award for Best Choreography. Later, in 2021, the dancer also won the Best Judgment Reality Show Award.
