Biography of Shantanu Maheshwari

Born on 7th March 1991, Shantanu is 30 years old as of 2022. He was born and brought up in Kolkata. Shantanu attended the Park English School and St. Joseph’s High School, Kolkata. Further, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his higher education where he attended the H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. Shantanu started dancing at the age of 8. During his college days, he was a part of the Street Soul Dance Crew. He specializes in Popping and (Liquid) Waving.

Career

Shantanu started his acting career with Dil Dosti Dance for Channel V and rose to fame by playing the lead role for the show. His on-screen chemistry with co-star Vrushika Mehta made him popular and he gained recognition and love from the viewers.

Later on, he appeared in episodic shows like Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and Yeh Hai Aashiqui. Later in the same year, he appeared in Bindass TV’s Bindass Naach where he showcased the formation of his crew Desi Hoppers and their subsequent victory at World of Dance. His dance crew, Desi Hoppers became the first dance crew to represent India at World of Dance and win it too. They got appraisals from Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough. The crew was also invited to give a special performance on Season 11 of America’s Got Talent where they received praises from Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Nick Cannon, and China’s famous talk show Day Day Up.

Along with his crew, Shantanu also gave a special performance at the University of Oxford. Other performances of the actor were at Indian Television Academy Awards, Radio Mirchi Top 20 and more.

Shantanu then returned to fiction shows by appearing in MTV India’s Girls on Top. He also portrayed Shah Rukh Khan’s son in the movie Ra.One of the pioneer Bollywood theme parks in Dubai. Hrithik Roshan called him a “flying star” because of his exceptional performance.

Reality Shows

Shantanu has also been a part of many popular reality shows. In 2016, he participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and became the runner-up in the show.

In 2017, he starred in the short film ‘ Something Like Love’. Up next, Maheshwari participated in Colors TV reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 8 and emerged as the winner of the show beating Hina Khan and Ravi Dubey. Rohit Shetty, the Bollywood director and the host of the show called him the “silent killer” of the show.

Maheshwari also launched the spring collection of Lee Cooper with the #MasterofDenim look. He also gained popularity as a host on Zee TV’s show India’s Best Dramebaaz. In 2018, he hosted the show “Love on the Run” by MTV India.

Shantanu has also given several performances on Awards shows and dance reality shows. He also appeared in a promotional video by Netflix for The Umbrella Academy.

Music Albums

Shantanu has featured in music videos which include ‘Super Girl from China, ‘Aaja Mahi Ve’ and ‘Haaye Oye’. His album “Haaye Oye” crossed 45 million views on YouTube within two weeks and also trended on various music platforms.

In 2017, Shantanu performed in Alt Balaji’s popular web series Medically Yours. His performance in the series was much liked by the audience. Shantanu along with his partner became the finalist of Nach Baliye Season 9.
