Bharti Singh | The success story of one of the top comedians in India

Bharti Singh is a well-known Indian comedian, model, and actress. She has created numerous comedy sketch shows as well as hosted various award shows. Bharti always manages to spread laughter all around but her road to stardom was not easy. Her success story from extreme poverty to becoming one of the top comedians in India is inspiring to many.

Early life

Bharti is a native of Amritsar, Punjab. At the age of 2, her father passed away. Her mother was only 22 years old at that time. She grew up in extreme poverty conditions with her three siblings. Her mother was the only working member of the family. She said in an interview that her mother used to work at a factory for a meagre salary. During festivals, she used to cry as her family had no money to celebrate them. While her brother worked at a shop, her sister and mother worked in a factory where they sewed blankets. Her mother also cooked at other’s homes. They would sometimes work at their house, and seeing all the huge blankets, Bharti did not want to be at home.

While in college, Bharti would stay back and not go home. She didn’t want to face poverty and live in that dim light. At that moment, she decided that she wanted to do something and help her family.

The beginning of her career

While attending an NCC camp, Bharti got an opportunity to showcase her acting skills. Hesitant at first, she impressed everyone at the audition and started doing plays at theatres. One day, she was told to give an audition for The Great India Laughter Challenge. After the audition, she did not get a call for 2-3 months and lost all hope. Until one day she got a call from Endemol, A TV company, saying that she has been selected. They asked her to come to Mumbai immediately. In 2008, she debuted on television by participating in The Great India Laughter Challenge. She won the second runner-up prize. From here, she didn’t look back and rose to fame.

Bharti’s journey to success

After being a part of The Great India Laughter Challenge, she appeared on various comedy and reality shows. She is very famous for her characters and comic skits on The Kapil Sharma Show. Over the years, Bharti has impressed the viewers along with her impeccable comedian timing and hosting abilities. Apart from comedy shows, Bharti appeared in ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5’, ‘Nach Baliye 8’ as a contestant, and ‘Bigg Boss’. She also appeared in various films, including Punjabi and Kannada.

Bharti’s success story is an inspiration to many struggling actors all over the world. She has mentioned numerous times how her humble family is still not accustomed to a lavish lifestyle.
