Ali Fazal is an Indian actor and model who works in Indian Films and Television since 2006. He made his Bollywood debut with the superhit film 3 idiots in 2009. More of his successful works are in the films Fukrey , Baat ban gai, Bobby Jasoos and Sonali Cable.
Early Life
Born on 15 March 1986, Ali Fazal belongs to Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Initially he attended a private school La Martiniere College, then moved to The Doon School, all boys – boarding school in Dehradun.There he became passionate about acting and took part in Founder’s Day theatre productions.
After Doon school, Ali moved to Mumbai and attended St. Xavier’s College for graduated in economics.
Career
Ali Fazal’s first role was in The Other End of the Line, a romantic comedy released in 2008. The film was a commercial failure. His second appearance was in 2009 in Bollywood Hero, an American television miniseries. In his college days, Ali used to act in drama plays. Once he caught the attention of director Saeed Akhtar Mirza, as a result of which he finalised Ali Fazal for the film Ek Tho Chance. Focusing on realities and Comedies in the life of Mumbai, the film was an erotic thriller. It premiered at the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala.
Debut and Breakthrough
Finally, Ali made his debut with 3 Idiots, one of the most popular Bollywood blockbusters. This National Award-winning movie was loosely based on the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. Someone from the film industry saw Ali Fazal acting in a play, and suggested director Rajkumar Hirani. That’s how Ali was taken into this film. He played the role of an engineering student, who commits suicide, alongside Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan. Having a realistic plot and amazing actors, The film emerged as the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time up until then. It grossed over 3,920 million from all over the world.

Up next in 2011, Ali Fazal was taken up by Red Chillies Entertainment, a production house owned by Shahrukh Khan. He appeared in the romantic film Always Kabhi Kabhi. Ali prepared well for the film and lost 15 kgs for his role. But unfortunately, Film received negative reviews and also failed at Box Office.
Apart from that, he made appearances in several films of unique genres like Khamoshiyan, Furious 7, Love Affair, House Arrest and Milan Talkies.
Present
In 2017, Ali was seen in the sequel Fukrey Returns. Along with that, He starred in Victoria & Abdul, a British – American film that depicted the story of Queen Victoria and her Confident Indian Servant, Abdul Karim.
Next Year, he appeared in the sequel Happy Pharr bhag jayegi and also played a role in the famous web series Mirzapur.
Recently, In 2020, he reprised his role of Guddu Pandit in the web series Mirzapur season 2. Like the first season, the web series was super successful. Later, In 2021, Ali Fazal turned out to be a Producer. He inaugurated his own production house with actress Richa Chadha under the name Pushing Buttons Studios.
