Their website sells various products, including clothing, mobile covers, backpacks, slides, mugs, and many more. It was founded in 2012 by Prabhkiran Singh and Siddharth Munot. Initially, the duo sold printed t-shirts on their website. Today, Bewakoof is one of the country’s largest D2C (direct-to-consumer) brands. In 2020, the company generated $28.33 million in revenue. The founders wanted to create something fun and bring humor into the lives of today’s generation, especially college students. About the founders
Prabhkiran Singh
Prabhkiran Singh is the founder and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Bewakoof. He did his undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. During college, he opened a lassi startup called khadke gLASSI. Singh always wanted to become an entrepreneur, right from his college days. After khadke gLASSI, he finally started Bewakoof with Sidharth Malhotra in 2012. Singh wanted to create a company that could make fashion less tedious and fun.
Sidharth Munot
Sidharth Munot is also one of the founders of Bewakoof. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. While in college, he started a merchandise company called Munot Networks LLP. In 2012, he joined his friend Prabhkiran Singh to form Bewakoof. After Bewakoof, Munot ventured into the bamboo industry and co-founded Machau Industries in 2020. He is still a part of Bewakoof and plays an active role in its success.
Bewakoof’s history
In 2011, two IIT students brainstormed ideas for their next startup. Finally, they decided to create a company that sold printed t-shirts. The duo wanted to bring humor into the dull lives of college students. They started researching the latest trends among the youth. The founders wanted to create products that were appealing to the young generation. Finally, in 2012 they launched their website Bewakoof.com. Bewakoof means stupid in Hindi. Their t-shirts had funny quotes that resonated with several college students. Slowly, the startup started gaining popularity and became the largest D2C brand in India.

What started as a small t-shirt startup has become one of the biggest online direct-to-consumer brands in the country. The company employs over 400 people and has sold 2 million products. In the fiscal year of 2020, Bewakoof made $28.33 million in revenue. Right from the beginning, the company always tries to go beyond the normal and create quirky and fun products. They aim to make 1000 crore in revenue in the next two years. Prabhkiran and Siddharth were always determined to create something that resonates with today’s generation.
