Early life

Christopher Michael Pratt was born in Minnesota on June 21, 1979. His mother worked as a cashier while his father made a living in construction. Pratt’s father passed away in 2014 due to multiple sclerosis. At school, he did not pay much attention to his studies and instead focused on making his classmates laugh. He was also a part of the school wrestling team. In an interview, Pratt recalled his coach asking him what he wished to do with his life. Pratt replied, “‘I don’t know, but I know I’ll be famous,, and I know I’ll make a shit ton of money.’ I had no idea how. I’d done nothing proactive.” He spent most of his childhood playing outside and living a carefree life. 

After graduating high school, Pratt decided to pursue acting studies at a community college. At 17, he lost interest and dropped out halfway through the first semester. To make a living, he started doing various odd jobs. After selling coupons and working as a daytime stripper, Pratt moved to Hawaii and ended up homeless. He slept in a van and a tent on the beach. Soon, he started working as a waiter at a restaurant and worked for a Christian missionary organization. His life was not easy,, and Pratt faced many struggles while growing up.

At the start of his career

At 19, when Pratt was working as a waiter, he was discovered by actress and director Rae Dawn Chong. She offered him a role in her directorial debut film, Cursed Part 3, filmed in Los Angeles. Pratt did hot have any acting experience,, but he was determined. With only $60 in his pocket, he flew to Los Angeles. Even though the movie flopped, Pratt knew he wanted to make a career out of acting. He bagged his first television role with the show Everwood. After a few years, he was cast on another show and almost made an appearance in a film. 

In 2009, Chris Pratt landed his first role in comedy role. He played Andy Dwyer on the hit TV series Parks and Recreation. Initially, he was supposed to be a temporary character,, but the producers liked Pratt so much that they asked him to become a regular. This proved to be the breakthrough point of his career. He gained worldwide recognition and soon started bagging roles in other genres.

Chris Pratt’s success in the industry

In 2014, Pratt lent his voice to the animated film LEGO and starred in Guardians of the Galaxy. Both the movie turned out to be blockbuster hits at the box office. With the worldwide success of these movies, Pratt became a top-earning actor. In 2015, he replaced Josh Brolin in the lead role in Jurassic World. The movie grossed over $1 billion worldwide. He was praised for his performance by critics and moviegoers. He has also been a part of blockbuster films like Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and many more. In 2017, Pratt received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to the motion picture industry.

In August 2022, Sony’s Columbia Pictures declared that Chris Pratt will be voicing the iconic grumpy cat “Garfield.” It will be an animated movie based on the titular character Garfield. Chris announced the news via his Twitter handle. In the tweet, he mentioned that the movie will be releasing on President’s Day weekend in 2024. Moreover, in the animated movie, legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson will be voicing the character of Garfield’s (Chris Pratt) father Vic. Renowned writer David Reynolds, who wrote the blockbuster animated movie Fiding Nemo, has written Garfield. Originally, Garfield was written as a comic strip in 1978. It revolves around a lazy orange cat and his michiefs in the human world.
