4 years agoon

George Steinbrenner is an American businessman and principal owner of the New York Yankees (1973–2010). He has accomplished a lot in life but his journey to success was surely not an easy one. He was often criticized by several people but under his ownership the Yankees became one of the dominant teams in baseball and one of the most valuable franchises in sports. His confidence and hard work aided him majorly in his success journey.
George Steinbrenner’s early failures :
George Steinbrenner was raised in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his bachelor’s degree in English (1952) from Williams College in Massachusetts. After completing his graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for two years. Following this he later received a master’s degree in physical education. This is where his journey started. He started working as an assistant coach for the football teams at Northwestern and Purdue universities. However he wasn’t having a good relationship with the players and they found him dominating and this earned him the nickname “the Boss”. Despite these hurdles of being mocked he believed in himself . He initially owned a small basketball team called the Cleveland Pipers back in 1960. But with a short span of two years, as a result of Steinbrenner’s direction, the entire franchise went bankrupt.
This was a major setback but this wasn’t the only one. After this another blow came in when Steinbrenner convicted for conspiring to make illegal contributions to U.S. Pres. Richard Nixon’s reelection campaign. This resulted him in being suspended from major league baseball until 1976. However without the aiding hand of George, the Yankees were defeated badly. The team faced several setback and losses. The same earlier pattern repeated once more. But George didn’t give up. The team realized the major role of his presence in the team. Later with George Steinbrenner’s assistance and under his ownership the Yankees played in seven other World Series, winning five titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009). He was a very confident man with a very well planned strategy.
Despite the streak of failures, he never gave up. He didn’t let failures take over his dream. He worked very hard and put in his best efforts to train the player. Though the players were not really fond of George, overtime they realized his potential. They criticized him but he didn’t let this to take heart. Despite public fear and criticism for his controversial decisions, he knew what he wanted. He worked hard and proved himself and has now achieved a remarkable success.
Life lessons from George Steinbrenner’s life :
A major lesson from George’s life is elf confidence. He believed in his abilities despite the several hurdles that came up his way. People criticized George for his choice but he didn’t let these pull him down. He worked hard and never gave up in life. What he has achieved today is solely because of his persistence and confidence. Get past your failures because failures are surely not an alternate to success. Don’t let your failures define your.
