Ileana D’cruz | Glamourous Portuguese actress

Ileana D’cruz is a 35-year-old Portuguese actress who began her acting journey from telugu and tamil cinema. Through her debut film Devadasu gained her broad level appreciation. Also, she received a Filmfare award  for best female debutant. Her notable works in Hindi cinema include: Mai Tera Hero, Rustom, Baadshaho and Raid.

Early Life

Born on 1 November 1987, Ileana D’cruz has a Catholic father and Muslim mother. After 10 years of her birth in Mumbai, her family moved to Goa. The very first portfolio of Ileana was created in 2003. It was so amazing that She called it a ‘disaster’. Following this, she took part in various ramps and done photoshoots, which led to her second portfolio. Their success earned the actress the commercials for Electrolux, Emami Talc and Fair & Lovely.

Career

Ileana D’Cruz was about to give an audition for a film directed by Teja, But the project was cancelled. After she made her debut with the Telugu romantic film, Devadasu in 2006. For this,s she took several acting classes with Aruna Bhikshu. The film was a big success with gross earnings of 140 million. As a result, Devadasu emerged as the year’s first commercially successful Telugu film. Critics and the audience positively reviewed the film and actress. Indiaglitz reviewed, “she has chiselled features and a figure to die for”. She earned Filmfare Award for Best Female Debutant. Her second venture was the film Pokiri. It also emerged as the highest-grossing Telugu film at the time.

Breakthrough

Ileana entered Tamil cinema with the film Kedi in 2006. Despite the film not going well at the box office, demand for actresses increased and she remained busy accepting all those projects. Her next Telugu film Khatarnak also did not go well.
Later, Illeana experienced her breakthrough with the films Rakhi and Munna in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Further Success

At the start of 2014, Ileana appeared for a  photoshoot for Man’s world, a man’s luxury lifestyle magazine. Her first film of the year was Main Tera Hero. She starred alongside Varun Dhawan and Nargis Fakhri in this coming of age romantic action-comedy. The film went very well and opened to positive reviews from critics and the audience. As a result, it collected over 78 crores. Following this, Ileana made an appearance in the romantic comedy Happy Ending. It was produced by the maiden production of Saif Ali Khan.

Post that Ileana took a break of two years and returned in 2016 with the film Rustom. It was a crime thriller in which she starred alongside Akshay Kumar. Their wonderful performances and the storyline made the film earn over 2 billion. As a result, The film emerged as one of the highest Indian grossing films of 2016. Also, the actress got several  award nominations.
Later in 2016, Illeana starred alongside Arjun Kapoor in the romantic comedy Mubarakan.

Present

In 2018, Ileana starred in the crime film Raid, alongside Ajay Devgan. Their performances and the film opened to good reviews. As a result, the film was a big success commercially and critically. After this, Actress took a brief break of six years and made a return with the Telugu film Amar Akbar Anthony. Unfortunately, the film had negative reviews and was a box office failure.

The following year, Ileana starred in the comedy film Pagalpanti. It received mixed reviews and was a moderate success. She was all set to appear in The Big Bull, a financial thriller film. But due to the pandemic, it got delayed and later released on OTT Disney plus Hotstar. Also, Ileana is done shooting for Unfair & lovely, a social comedy.
