Mithali Raj is an Indian cricketer and has served as captain of India’s women cricket team. She is one of the best female cricketers in the world. She has played more international matches than any other woman, and she’s also a good bowler, specializing in leg breaks.
Early Life
Mithali Raj was born on December 3, 1982, in India. She is an Indian cricketer and captain of the women’s national cricket team, Test and ODI. As a child, she lived with her brother, who taught her cricket basics alongside playing the game herself when she was 10-year-old.
During this period, Mithali Raj also took coaching from school days to help improve her skills. Later, she played for Kasturba Gandhi Junior College for Women in Secunderabadher in her intermediate studies. Before debuting with players like Anjum Chopra, Purnima Rau and Anju Jain at Railways Club. Mithali played domestic competition games within India before playing internationally for them.
Career of Mithali Raj
Mithali made her debut in ODIs on June 26 1999, against Ireland and scored 114 runs. She also played a Test match, which was unfortunately unsuccessful for her team. During that match, she got dismissed without scoring any runs. Raj’s T20 debut was August 5 2006, against England, where India won the game by eight wickets because of Raj’s 28 off 37 balls.
Mithali Raj’s career in Cricket has been one of the most successful. She became the second woman player in the world and the first from India to make 10,000 international runs during an ODI against South Africa Women on March 2021.
Mithali Raj is also the only female cricketer to score more than 8000 runs in Women’s One DayInternational matches and achieved her highest individual Test score with 209 while still a 19-year old at that time. She is primarily a right-handed opening batsman but can occasionally be employed as an occasional leg-break bowler.
She is also known for achieving seven consecutive 50s within women’s international cricket format. No other player before her had done so before. The Indian team captain, Mithali Raj, has played all three forms of Cricket: Test, ODIs and T20I for India. She plays ODIs most predominantly to date!
Mithali has 20 years of experience playing across all three formats of Cricket for her country. When she was 19, this record-breaking moment occurred when she scored 214 off 309 balls. That match was against New Zealand Woman Player’s Team in August 2002.
