About the Founders
The brand Mivi was founded by a young couple from Vijaywada. They both met each other at Florida State University, United States. Later both of them married each other. After graduating from Florida State University then they worked in the United States for a few years. Viswanadh worked for a company that exported electronic products from the United States to India. And Midhula worked for Xerox as a software engineer before moving to Raymond Jones. Both of them came back to India in the year 2015 and after coming back launched the brand Mivi in India. The main aim of the brand is to redefine the electronics market in India.
The brand was launched in the year 2015 in Hyderabad, India. The company launched by the couple Viswanadh Kandula and Midhula Devabhaktuni. Both of them felt that no electronics brands are accessible to the common man at an affordable rate yet maintain quality. International brands are too expensive so he took advantage of them to capture the Indian market. The brand launched then itself to provide quality products at an affordable range. In the first year, Mivi did a business of about Rs 8 crores. 70% of the sale of MiVi products is through e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm etc. In the year 2021, their business improved a lot and they made a revenue of Rs 2.5 to 3 crores every month.
The brand name is after the founders which are (Mi)dhula and (Vi)swanadh. Although the company launched in 2015, the products made in South Korea and China till 2020. Mivi now there owns a manufacturing unit in India so the mivi products are 100% made in India. According to them, expected that the brand Mivi will exceed $25 billion by the year 2024.
Mivi is no doubt one of the consumer favourites and one of the main reasons behind it goes to Mivi’s marketing. The brand has collaborated with famous faces of Indian YouTubers. YouTubers like Carry Minati, Flying Beast, Bhuvan Bam, Prajakta Koli, Mumbaiker Nikhil and many more promotees the brand in their videos. These YouTubers also promote MiVi on their channels and social media frequently. The marketing has also added to the success of MiVi as a brand. The brand made Bhuvan Bam the brand ambassador of the brand in the year 2018.
Mivi also targets customers in the 17-35 age group. From college students to working professionals. About 60 per cent of Mivi’s customers are from Tier I cities.
