Parag Agrawal | New CEO of Twitter

The New CEO of the most used social media Twitter,  Parag Agrawal, is a technology executive by profession. He holds an Indian-American personality. Parag, a remarkable software engineer, engaged with Twitter for a long time. Initially, he was an employee, then promoted to the position of Cheif technology officer. Finally Today, he is the CEO of Twitter.

Early Life

Born on May 21, 1984, Parag Agrawal is the son of Ram Gopal Agrawal, an employee at the atomic energy sector and Shashi, a retired professor. Brought in Ajmer, Parag lived in a small family of four people: His parents and Sister Kunal.

Parag Agrawal shifted to Mumbai a long time back and did his schooling at Atomic Energy Central School. Being an intelligent child from the beginning, Parag performed very well in School. In 2001, he won a gold medal in the International Physics Olympiad in Turkey. Also, In IIT Joint Entrance Exam 2000, Parag secured 77th rank. Following higher schooling, He enrolled in IIT Bombay for an undergraduate course, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Later, Parag Agarwal moved to  America. There he enlisted in the great Stanford University for PhD in computer science.

Career

Being a Brilliant Software engineer, Parag Agrawal worked in a high position at Microsoft Research and Yahoo! Research. He joined Twitter in the year 2011. And after six years of hard work, in 2017, Parag Agrawal became the Chief Technology officer of Twitter.
Finally, in the year 2019, after Jack Dorsey left, The position of CEO, i.e., Chief executive officer of Twitter, was bestowed to Parag Agrawal.
“I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders,” said Dorsey in a statement.

Important Policy

When Parag Agrawal was the Chief Technology Officer, It was revealed by The U.S. Department of Justice That: Twitter employees were selling information and locations of dissidents and Human rights activists to the dictators. This led to the disappearance and death of the dissidents.
As a result, Just after the day, Parag became the CEO, he issued a new policy. According to this, Twitter users cannot share images and videos of private individuals without their consent.

Freedom of speech is what attracts users to socialise. But as everything has breaks somewhere. It became necessary to set limitations on online speeches. When asked about free speeches, Parag Agrawal states, “Our role is not to be bound by the First Amendment, but our role is to serve a healthy public conversation. Focus less on thinking about free speech, but thinking about how the times have changed.”
