Shaheer Sheikh is an Indian television actor and model. In a career spanning about 13 years, Shaheer is best known for playing the role of Anant Bajpai in Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal, Arjuna in Mahabharat, Prince Salim in Dastaan-e-Mohabbat , Dev Dixit in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and Abir Rajvansh in Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. Today, the actor has fans all over the country. In addition, Sheikh is also popular in Indonesia. Initially, Sheikh planned on becoming a lawyer, but he found a calling in the entertainment industry and hasn’t looked back ever since. Here’s his success story.

Early life

Shaheer Sheikh was born on 26 March 1984 in Bhaderwah, Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. He completed his schooling from Hari Singh Higher Secondary School, Jammu. Afterwards, Sheikh graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (L.L.B.) degree from New Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. After pursuing L.L.B. for some time, he started working at a law firm. Later, Sheikh went on to become a photographer. Eventually, he found his calling in the entertainment industry and became a model. After this, he never looked back and went on to star in television shows. 

Shaheer Sheikh’s career

In the year 2009, Shaheer Sheikh made his television debut in the show Kya Mast Hai Life. He played the role of Veer Mehra, a teenager who loves music and playing the guitar. Followed by this, Sheikh acted in Jhansi Ki Rani and played the role of Nana Sahib, brother of Rani of Jhansi. In 2011, the producers of the show Navya..Naye Dhadkan Naye Sawaal asked Sheikh to play the lead role of Anant Bajpai. Anant is a modern, young boy, struggling to break free from his traditional household. In addition to this, he also worked in the Disney Channel show Best of Luck Nikki as Ritesh. Sheikh also appeared in the telefilm Teri Meri Love Stories opposite Mahhi Vij. Sheikh made his breakthrough in 2013 when he played the warrior-prince Arjuna in the hit TV show Mahabharat. 

He received a lot of praise from people all around the country for his performance. To prepare for his role as Arjuna, Sheikh went through severe training which included horse riding and weapon training for eight months. In no time, Mahabharat became a huge critical and commercial success. It recorded the highest ratings ever achieved by an Indian television show. The show became very popular in Indonesia and Sheikh is credited as the ‘SRK of Indonesia’. In 2015, he made his Indonesian film debut and played the lead role in a romantic comedy film Turis Romantis. In 2016, Shaheer returned to Indian television with the critically acclaimed TV show, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. He played the role of Dev Dixit and the show became a huge hit. In addition, he has been a part of several Indonesian television series. In 2017, Sheikh topped in Times list of 20 Most Desirable Men on Indian Television
