Shalini Pandey | The Budding Actress Who Has a Long Way to Go

Shalini Pandey is an Indian actress, who has worked in Tamil, Telugu & most recently Hindi movies. Shalini made her debut with the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy which came out in 2017 and was a huge success. In 2019, she made her first Tamil debut with the movie 100% Kadhal. Very recently in 2020, s featured in a Bollywood movie called Bamfaad.

She was born and brought up in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Pandey has also featured in movies like Mahanati, 118, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, and some more.

Personal Life

Shalini Pandey was born on 23 September 1993 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in a middle-class family. She did her Schooling at Christ Church Girls Higher Secondary School. Later she did B.Tech in CSE from Global Engineering College, Jabalpur. Shalini’s Father is a Government Employee in Madhya Pradesh although his name is unknown and her mother is a Homemaker. Her mother is also a trained Carnatic Singer, Shalini has a younger sister, Pooja Pandey. While she was doing her graduation she joined a theater group and performed in many plays. Her father was totally against it and wanted her to focus on her graduation. She also has a tattoo on her ankle.

Career

Shalini Pandey has worked in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi Film industries so far. She debuted in the super hit Telugu movie ‘Arjun Reddy’ where she played the character of Preeti. It was later remade in  Hindi and Tamil as “Kabir Singh” and “Adithya Varma” casting Shahid Kapoor and Dhruv Vikram respectively in 2019.

Shalini was not that well versed with Telugu but still, she did her own dubbing. Apart from ‘Arjun Reddy’ she acted in various Telugu movies like ‘Mahanati’, ‘118’ and ‘Iddari Lokam Okate’.

She also acted in multiple Tamil movies like Gorilla with Jeeva and 100% Kadhal with GV Prakash Kumar. In the year 2020, she signed her first Bollywood movie ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ opposite Ranveer Singh. It is Produced by Yash Raj Films and released on 13th May 2022. Shalini has also done a Bollywood film ‘Bamfaad’ directed by Ranjan Chandel opposite Paresh Rawal’s son Aditya Rawal. Shalini’s dream is to act alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Hassan, she revealed this in an interview.

Shalini also did a few episodic roles for Sony’s popular serials like ‘CrimePetrol’ and ‘Mann Mein hai Visshwas’. 

Shalini was also ranked 19th in Hyderabad Times’ most desirable list of 2017.

She also acted in a short film named ‘Dwand’ in the role of Ruby. Pandey also acted in a music video in the year 2022 under Armaan Malik’s Label Nakhrey Nakhrey.

Recent movies updates

Shalini featured Anushka in the movie “Nishabdham” along with major actors like R Madhavan and Anjali. In the list, “118” is the latest one that portrays a lead role with Kalyan Ram and Nivetha Thomas. She also debuted in Bollywood along with Ranveer Singh “Jayeshbhai Jordaar”

Awards and Nominations

Though being a newbie in this industry, Shalini has already made her mark by winning and getting nominated for awards. She has won Best Debut actress in Zee Cine Awards Telugu. Also, she got nominated for the South Indian International Movie Awards ( SIIMA ) for the film ‘Arjun Reddy’. She also won the Best Find of the Year in Zee Telugu Apsara Award for the movie ‘Arjun Reddy’.

Although it is just the start of her journey, not many in the industry get early fame like her.
