Initially, He got into modelling but turned his face to Bollywood after dissatisfaction. Sidharth rose to fame with his appearance in the films Student of the Year, Ek Villian and Kapoor & Sons.

Early life

Born on 16 January 1985, Sidharth Malhotra is the son of Sunil, a former captain in the Merchant Navy, and Rimma. He attended Delhi’s Don Bosco School for primary education and later enrolled at Naval Public School for higher education. Following this, He graduated from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College.

At the age of merely 18, Sidharth began modelling. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well, and as a result, He moved into Bollywood. Initially, he worked as a trainee assistant director with Karan Johar in the film My Name is Khan.

Career

Sidharth Malhotra entered Bollywood in 2012 with the debut film Student of the year, a teen drama. He starred as a lead actor along with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. The film was a great success with domestic earnings of 700 Million.
After a break of two years, Sidharth appeared in the Romantic comedy Hasee Toh Phasee alongside Parineeti Chopra. Although His performance was widely appraised, the film was a moderate success at Box Office. NDTV praised him by comparing his performance with early Amitabh Bachchan.

Major Success

In the same year, Sidharth Malhotra made his appearance in the romantic thriller Ek Villian alongside Shraddha Kapoor. His performance was critically acclaimed both by critics and audiences. “watchable even if he has a hard time doing menace — he just seems so nice and wholesome all the time, even when he is crunching bones”, wrote The Indian Express. This commercially successful film earned 1 billion domestically. As a result, it established Sidharth as one of the new generation of Bollywood actors.

The next year, Sidharth appeared in the film Brothers alongside Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff. Though the film did not go well, it received negative reviews, Sidharth’s performance was praised. His chemistry with Akshay Kumar got appreciated.

Up Next in 2016, Sidharth appeared in the film Kapoor & Sons, a family drama. The story is based on clashes and affection in the Kapoor family. Two brothers of opposite personalities come back home when their grandfather suffer from cardiac arrest. The film was super successful, and Sidharth’s performance was broadly appreciated. It flooded the box office with earnings of 152 crores over the budget of merely 28 crores. As a result, It was his highest-grossing career film to date.
Following the success of Kapoor & Sons, Sidharth made subsequent appearances in the films Baar Baar Dekho, A Gentleman, Ittefaq and Aiyaary.

Present

In 2019, Sidharth had two releases; Jabariya Jodi and Marjaavaan. Jabariya Jodi was a romantic comedy, and his second collaboration with Parineeti Chopra and Marjaavaan was a masala actioner with lead actress Tara Sutaria.
Both of them were moderately successful.
Recently, In 2021, Sidharth played the role of an army officer, Vikram Batra, in the film Shershaah. It was a real life-based story and received a great response from critics and the audience.
