4 years agoon
Sushant Singh Rajput was a driven actor. He was highly motivated to do his best, and it shows in all his performances. His sudden death came as a shock to all of us, but this article is not about that. This article is about how much he had worked hard and struggled to become deserving of the tremendous amount of love that his fans have for him.
LOSS OF MOTHER AT AN EARLY AGE
Failure comes to everyone; some people grow with it, while some people go down with it. Sushant was just 16 years old when he lost his mother in 2002. The loss must have affected him deeply. He once mentioned in an interview that after this tragedy, he became a lot more mature.
ENGINEERING
Sushant was studious since his childhood. He was interested in space and always wanted to be an astronaut. But he knew that his family could not afford it. After his mother’s death, he studied very hard to get into an engineering college to support his family. He ranked 7th in DCE entrance exams and took admission in Delhi College of Engineering.
After getting into college, Sushant joined Shiamak Davar’s dance class, just for fun. Soon he became a good dancer and started participating in college events also. Before this, he was an introverted student, who was always into his books only.
THEATRE
It was Shiamak Dawar who suggested Sushant try his hand at theatre. Thus, Sushant joined Barry John’s acting classes. He soon realized that he liked the idea of expressing himself through acting: “I found the experience liberating. I realized that I could communicate with the audience. I knew I wanted to do this forever.” After completing the acting course, Sushant was the only one in the class who got a B grade; others got C.
Sushant managed all these extra activities along with his engineering studies, which ultimately led to a lot of backlogs piling up. By the time he came to his 4th year, he had a scholarship offer from Stanford University. He had to decide at this point. He chose to sacrifice his career as an engineer to become an actor.
BIG BREAK IN TELEVISION
Sushant Singh Rajput came to Versova, Mumbai, in a rented apartment that he shared with six others and joined Nadira Babbar’s Ekjute theatre group. He became a struggling actor and bagged small roles in advertisements. Balaji Telefilms noticed him while he was performing in a play and got selected for the role of Preet Juneja in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. Afterward, he landed the role of Manav Deshmukh in Pavitra Rishta, for which he became insanely popular and won many awards. He did the show for two years and eventually got his break in Bollywood in the film Kai Po Che! After that, there was no looking back, and he became successful as an actor.
Our Take…
what happened with Sushant is a tragedy but it was not his fault, it was our fault. We are responsible for it. We were not able to appreciate what a gem of a human he was. It is our failure. And the fact that after his demise millions are raising their voices is a proof that he will always be remembered and his memories will be cherished. This is what success is and the only tribute we can give is to make sure it will not happen to anyone again.
Sushant’s story teaches us that success comes to only those who have the power to sacrifice.
