Vaani Kapoor is an Indian actress who began her Bollywood journey in 2013. To her fortune and skills, her debut film Shuddh Desi Romance arose as a critical and commercial success. Later, she took a break from television when her Tamil film Aaha Kalyanam and Befikre faced criticisms. Coming back in the superhit film War and Bell Bottom made her shine again.

Early Life

Born on August 23, 1988, Vaani Kapoor is the daughter of Shiv Kapoor, a furniture export entrepreneur and Dimpy, a marketing executive. Her mother initially worked as a Teacher. Living in Delhi, Vaani grew up in a small family of four people; Her parents and elder sister Nupur.

Vaani Kapoor attended Mata Jai Kaur Public School located at Ashok Vihar, Delhi, for higher education. Afterwards, she enrolled at Indira Gandhi National Open University for an undergraduate course in Tourism. Following this, Vaani went for an internship with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in Jaipur. And Later began working with ITC Hotel. Her entry into the acting area was made through modelling. It was when she received projects from Elite Model Management.

Career

Vaani Kapoor began her Bollywood journey by signing a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films. She appeared in an audition for the romantic comedy film Shuddh Desi Romance and got selected for a supporting role. The film raises Live-in relationships with Sushant Singh and Parineeti Chopra as lead actors. Vaani played the role of Tara, an outspoken girl for which she received positive reviews.” She was impressive, pretty and commanded a good screen-presence”, wrote The Times of India. The film successfully collected 46 crores at the box office and proved a commercial success. She gained her first Filmfare award for the Best Female Debut.

Vaani made her second appearance in a Tamil film, Aaha Kalyanam. It was the remake of the 2010 Hindi Film Band Baaja Baaraat. She learnt the Tamil language for the film and prepared well. But unfortunately, it received negative reviews. Later, In 2016, Vaani appeared in the film Befikre opposite Ranveer Singh. This romantic drama didn’t go well and, as a result, became a box-office failure.

Breakthrough

After a break of three years, The year 2019 saw Vaani Kapoor in the film War. It was an action thriller in which she featured alongside Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. Coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, the film released on 2 October and became the highest opening day collection film ever. As a result, this film proved to be the most successful film of Vaani’s career. Also, it was the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2019. She screened for a limited time but added glamour to the film.

Present

Recently, In 2021, Vaani Kapoor starred in the action thriller Bell Bottom. The film received quite good reviews. Later, the same year, She appeared in the romantic drama Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. The film released in December and featured Vaani and Ayushmann Khurrana as lead actors. Her performance as a Transgirl got broad level appraisals.
