Early Life

On the 9th of August, 1991, Hansika was born to Pradeep Motwani, who owns a business, and Mona Motwani, a skin specialist in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Hansika belongs to a Sindhi family. She completed her education at The Poddar International School of Mumbai. When Hansika was 13, her parents decided to part ways. After her parents’ divorce, Hansika was brought up by her mother. 

Beginning of Acting Career

One day, a famous actress, Juhi Chawla, visited the clinic of Hansika’s mother. When she saw little Hansika, she told her mother that Hansika could become a child actor because she’s gorgeous. Soon after, Hansika appeared in the television show Shaka Laka Boom Boom. It was a successful TV series that aired its first 30 episodes on DD National Channel. Later, Star Plus took up the series, and its new version premiered on the 19th of August, 2002. After the success of Shaka Laka Boom Boom, Hansika appeared in another television series, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, which aired on the same channel. She played the role of Tina Singh in the series.

Roles in Bollywood as a child artist

In 2003, Hansika worked in a Horror film that starred Tabu as the main lead. In the same year, she played the role of Priya in the blockbuster movie Koi Mil Gaya. The following year, she starred in films like Jaago and Hum Kaun Hai? She got the opportunity to share the screen with living legends Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. Some other big names she appeared with were Dimple Kapadia, Manoj Bajpayee, Sanjay Kapoor, and Raveena Tandon. In the same year, she played the role of Pinky in Aabra Ka Daabra, a Hindi adaptation of the famous Harry Potter series.

Debut as the Lead Actress 

In 2007, Hansika was cast alongside Allu Arjun in the second-highest grossing movie of 2007, Desamuduru. It became one of the most successful movies of both Allu Arjun and Hansika’s careers. In the same year, she made her Bollywood Debut as the Lead Actress in the movie Aap Ka Suroor, a blockbuster that grossed over $3.1 million.

Primary Success in South Indian Film Industry 

In 2009, Hansika starred in Maska, the film with one of the biggest openings of 2009. The film was a huge success, and it grossed over $1.2 million in its first week at the box office. Two years later, Hansika made her Tamil Debut alongside Dhanush in the movie Mappillai. It received a good response from the critics and the audience as well. In the same year, she appeared in various commercially successful films like Engeyum Kadhal and Velayudham alongside Vijay, the superstar of Tamil movies.

Struggle after Success

In 2016, Hansika played the role of Maya in the movie Aranmanai 2. The film did well at the box office but received mixed-to-negative reviews from the critics. In the same year, she starred in Uyire Uyire and Pokkiri Raja. Both the movies were declared “flops” at the box office and weren’t critically acclaimed either. 

Debut in Malayalam Cinema 

In 2017, Hansika Motwani made her Malayalam debut with the film Villain alongside the mogul of Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal. It received a great response not just in India but in The United Arab Emirates, The United States, and the United Kingdom.

2018 – Present 

After the success of Villain, Hansika was cast in several films in 2018. But most of them received a mixed-to-positive reviews from the critics and the audience. The following year, she starred in a Telugu action comedy movie Tenali Ramakrishna BA. BL, but it did not receive a good response from the critics. In 2021, she appeared in two Hindi Music Videos by B Praak, Tony Kakkar, and Sonu Kakkar.

Currently, Hansika is working on numerous Tamil and Telugu movie projects which are set to release shortly. Some of them are – Maha, Partner, Rowdy Baby, My Name is Shruthi, and 105 minutes.
