Jay Bhanushali  is an Indian television actor. He is best known for his portrayal of Neev Shergill in Ekta Kapoor’s show Kayamath . He also participated in reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2, Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, Nach Baliye 5, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7 and Bigg Boss 15.

Early Life

Born on 25 December 1984, Jay Bhanushali belongs to a middle-class family of Ahmedabad Gujarat. For schooling, He attended BPM High school Mumbai. Like every outsider of Bollywood, It was really hard for Jay to make it up to a lead role in a film. While his initial struggling days in Mumbai, His elder sister suggested him to try modelling. As a result of which, Jay started appearing in commercials and television series. He starred in commercials of Rediffmail.com, Motorola, lays and pepsi.

Career

Jay Bhanushali entered into television industry through the show Kasautii Zindagii Kay, in a supporting role. After which In 2007, he played a supporting role in Dhoom Machado Dhoom, appearing as Varun Bhaskar. It was a musical comedy-drama television series that aired on the Disney channel. Running for a year, the series consisted of 100 episodes.

Breakthrough

Jay Bhanushali’s breakthrough took place when Ekta Kapoor selected him for the soap opera Kayamath. He starred as Neev Shergill, the protagonist. This show earned him a wide level of appraisal along with several awards. Along with Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face – Male, and the Indian Telly Award for Best Actor in a supporting role, Jay won various others.

In the same year, Jay became a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2. He ended up being 2nd runner of the show. Subsequently, Jay participated in Kaun Jeetega Bollywood ka ticket in 2008 and Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao is a wildcard. He secured 6th position in Kaun Jeetega Bollywood ka Ticket. The same year, Jay starred as Yuvraj in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. Also, He hosted the popular dance reality show, Dance India Dance. For his anchoring and comic timings, he earned praise from several quarters.

Further Success

In 2010, Jay anchored the shows Dance India Dance 2 and Meethi Choori No. 1 and his hosting skills gained appreciation after that. Following this, he participated in the dance reality show Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan.
Jay appeared in the television show Geet-Hui Sabse Parayi as Yash Malhotra. This year proved to be fortunate for him, He won Boroplus Gold Award for Best anchor and the Zee Rishtey award for a favourite host with several other accolades. Also, In 2021, He won the couple dance show Nach baliye 5 with his wife.

Present

In 2016, Jay Bhanushali became a part of Khatron Ke Khiladi 7, a stunt-based reality show. He got eliminated in the second week but re-entered the show on 5th week. After which he walked out willingly in 9th week and ended up getting 9th position. Jay hosted the dance show The Voice India Kids and Sabse Bada Kalakar in 2017.

In 2018, Jay again appeared as a host for the dance shows Super Dancer and Indian Idol 10. The next year, he made an episodic appearance in Kitchen Champion 5. Later, served as a host for the show Superstar Singer, a dance reality show.
Recently in 2020, Jay again took part in Khatron ke Khiladi – Made in India. And In 2021, he participated in the reality show Bigg Boss but got evicted on day 55.
