Besides Stranger Things, she has appeared in Michael Dougharty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters and its sequel Godzilla vs. Kong. Moreover, UNICEF has appointed Millie as their Goodwill Ambassador. She was the youngest person to be selected as UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador at the time. Prestigious brands like Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Calvin Klein, Converse, Elle, and Vogue have chosen Millie as their ambassador. However, Millie had to go through several hardships after becoming a star. From online bullying to unnecessary insults, she faced it all with grace. 

Early Life

On the 19th of February 2004, Millie Bobby Brown was born in Marbella, Spain. Her father, Robert Brown, was a real estate agent. In contrast, her mother, Kelly Brown, was a homemaker. Millie’s parents come of British descent. They decided to move to Spain to manage a restaurant owned by Robert’s parents. At the time, Kelly was pregnant with Millie. Upon moving, the couple started leading an everyday life. After Millie’s birth, the couple came across a piece of sad news. Millie was born with partial hearing loss in her left ear. The family went through several ups and downs after her birth. When she turned four, the family moved to Bournemouth, Dorset, England. Millie has three siblings. Two older siblings named Charlie and Paige, and a younger sister named Ava. As a child, Millie loved watching musicals. Her father was quick to notice her inclination toward musicals.

Consequently, Robert and Kelly started supporting Millie in pursuing her passion for performing. Later, the family moved to Orlando, Florida, hoping Millie would have a better acting career in America. At the age of eight, Millie started going to performing-arts classes. Not much later, an agent spotted her. The agent contacted Millie’s parents and advised them to move to Hollywood, Los Angeles. Consequently, within a few weeks, the family relocated to Los Angeles. To support the family, Robert started running a tooth-whitening business. However, things weren’t easy for them. The family almost went bankrupt. They had already sold everything they had left. Fortunately, within a few days of moving, Millie auditioned for several TV series roles. However, she had lost all hearing in her left year.

Beginning of Career

In 2013, Millie landed a role in ABC’s fantasy drama, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. She appeared as a guest star in the series. The following year, BBC America cast her in Intruders, a paranormal fiction developed by Glen Morgan. Soon after that, Millie got the opportunity to appear as a guest star in the popular American police drama NCIS. Through appearances in these major TV Series, Millie later starred in renowned TV shows like Modern Family and Grey’s Anatomy. She was just eleven years old at the time. Following that, Millie went to England. In England, she did not get many audition opportunities. However, one day, she received a call for an audition for an upcoming sci-fi drama, Stranger Things, in 2016.

Worldwide Recognition

Millie went for the audition. The creators asked her to come back for a callback. Soon after, she had a skype conversation with the makers of Stranger Things. They asked her for a taped audition followed by another audition in Los Angeles. After the final audition, Millie finally landed the iconic role of “Eleven.” The series garnered worldwide recognition, and Millie paved her way to success. To date, Stranger Things is one of the most viewed TV series globally. Millie’s performance garnered her critical and commercial success. She received several prestigious accolades for her outstanding performance. However, she faced many unpleasant scenarios after becoming a global icon at such a young age. She received hate from social media and often got bullied on online platforms. Nevertheless, Millie worked hard and proved to be one of the most talented young artists.
