Sanya Malhotra | The Famous New comer of Bollywood

One of the popular new faces, Sanya Malhotra, is an Indian actress who has predominantly worked in Bollywood films since 2016. She debuted with one of the highest-grossing films: Dangal. She is known for performances in Badhaai Ho, Shakuntala Devi, Photograph and Ludo.

Early Life

Born on 25 February 1992, Sanya Malhotra is the daughter of Sunil Malhotra, an engineer and Renu. Living in Delhi, she grew up in a small family of four people: Her parents and elder sister Shagun. Sanya attended Ryan International School, Delhi, for higher education. Later, she enrolled at Gargi College, University of Delhi, for graduation.
Sanya was very much interested in dancing. She took professional ballet dance classes. As a result, she participated in Dance India Dance, the great dancing reality show. In which she got listed among the Top 100. Following this, she showed in commercials. Gradually entered into acting.

Career

At the mere beginning of her career, Sanya received a superhit project and gained popularity. She also got an award and nomination.

Beginning and Breakthrough

Sanya Malhotra began her Bollywood Journey with the Biographical sports film Dangal, which was her breakthrough. Initially, she did not know about Wrestling. Because of which she took physical training and watched several videos on wrestling. After five consecutive rounds of the audition, Sanya was finalised for the film. Alongside Fatima Sana Shaikh and Aamir Khan, Sanya’s performance received wide appraisals. The film made box office earnings of over 2000 crores. As a result, became the highest-grossing Indian film ever.
Next, Sanya showed her dancing skills by choreographing the song ‘Sexy Baliye’. It featured in Secret Superstar.

Further Success

After a break of two years, In 2018, Sanya returned to Bollywood with the film Pataakha. The story was based on two sisters who hold different personalities and are always in conflict with each other.For playing the role of Rajasthani girls, She stayed in Ronsi village near Jaipur for quite an extended period. She learned the Rajasthani dialect and got familiar with their customs. Milking buffaloes, plastering walls and walking while balancing matkas on their heads are some of them. Sanya’s performance gained positive reviews. She “plays this character with unhinged enthusiasm” wrote Raja Sen.
A month later, Sanya made her next appearance in the comedy film Badhaai ho. She played the role of Ayushmann’s girlfriend. It was a family drama film which received critical acclaim.

The year 2019 saw Sanya Malhotra in the film Photograph. She featured with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in this romantic drama. This venture was successful with earnings of 1.29 crores. The 2019 Sundance Film Festival and 69th Berlin International Film Festival featured the film. As a result, Film companion writes, “Sanya becomes the dreamy-eyed participant that enables the film to embrace its quiet glances and gentle flights of fantasy.” She got nominated for Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress.

Recently, in 2020, Sanya Malhotra was all set to rock the theatres with three films back to back.

• Shakuntala Devi: The Biographical film of great Indian mathematician.

• The anthology film Ludo and

• The comedy film Pagglait.

Unfortunately, due to Pandemic, three of released on OTT Platforms. She featured alongside Vidya Balan as her daughter. As a result, Her performance was very affecting. Now she is shooting for Love Hostel opposite to actor Vikrant Massey.
