Shahid Kapoor is an Indian actor, famous in the Bollywood film Industry. He made his debut in 2003 with the movie Ishq Vishk, for which he won the Film fare Award for the Best Male Debut. He is also very popularly known as “Aditya” from his movie “Jab We Met”.

Personal Life

Shahid Kapoor was born in Delhi on the 25th of February, 1981. His father’s name is Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem. He was educated at the Gyan Bharati school in Delhi and Rajhans Vidyalaya in Mumbai. He also attended college in Mumbai for 3 years, at Mithibai. Shahid was very interested in dancing since his early days, so he joined Shiamak Davar’s dance Institute. He appeared as a background dancer in many movies like Dil To Pagal Hai, Taal etc. 

Kapoor later became an instructor at the institute. He appeared in Commercials for KitKat and Close-Up. 

His parents divorced when he was only three. He has two paternal half-siblings, Sanah and Ruhaan from his father’s second marriage. He also has a maternal brother, Ishaan Khattar. 

Shahid Kapoor had dated Kareena Kapoor but they got separated during the shoot of Jab We Met. There were also rumours of him dating Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra. 

In July 2015, Shahid got married to Mira Rajput who is a student of Delhi University and is 13 years younger than him. They currently have a son named Zain and a daughter named Misha. 

Career and His path of Success

Shahid Kapoor first came into the limelight with the movie Ishq Vishk(2003), which is a teenage love story. The film was a sleeper hit at the box office and won him the Best Male Debut award at the Filmfare awards. After his debut, he did a movie which was very different from his Debut. The movie was a thriller one, named Fida, which featured him as a character manipulated by his love to rob a bank.

In 2006, he was again cast opposite Kareena Kapoor for 2 movies, Chinatown and Chup Chup Ke. The former was a success. Later, he was cast with Amrita Rao in the movie Vivah, which was a family movie depicting arranged marriage. The movie won a lot of hearts and earned over 530 million worldwide. Another big hit of Shahid Kapoor was Imitiaz Ali’s Jab We Met, which turned out to be one of the highest-grossing movies of that year.

He played in the rom-com movie Kismat Konnection opposite Vidya Balan, after which he played twin brothers in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey. He did a couple of movies opposite Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor, which include Teri Meri Kahaani and Mausam. After Kaminey, he reunited with Vishal for the movie Haider which is taken from Shakespeare’s popular Hamlet, opposite Shraddha Kapoor and Tabu. It earned him several awards, as his performance in the film was spectacular. 

Another great success was Udta Punjab. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat also was the highest-grossing Indian film of all time. 

Recent Works

In 2019, he played the role of Kabir in Kabir Singh which is a remake of the Telugu superhit movie Arjun Reddy.  He then took a break from the cinema world, after which he starred in the sports drama Jersey. It is a story about a cricketer who wants to make a comeback in his late 30s. The movie was very much delayed due to COVID-19, but when it was finally released, it did not do well at the box office.

Is Shahid Kapoor a vegetarian?

Shahid has been vegetarian and his love for food has only grown over time. The actor follows a strict diet and the same goes for his wife.

How is Kapoor related to Shahid family?

He was born in a middle-class Khatri family to actor Pankaj Kapoor and actress Neelima Azeem. His parents got divorced in 1984. Actress Supriya Pathak is his stepmother. He has a paternal half-brother Ruhaan Kapoor and a paternal half-sister Sanah Kapoor.
