Gal rose to prominence during the 2000s after becoming Miss Israel. She started getting Hollywood projects in 2009. Gal’s most admired work is her portrayal of Wonder Woman in DC’s superhero films. She has been one of the highest-paid actresses in the world since 2018. In her successful career, Gal has starred in significant projects like The Fast and Furious series, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Red Notice, Justice League, and Death on the Nile.

In her long and successful career, Gal has worked with iconic artists like Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Steve Carell. Moreover, she has endorsement deals with top brands like Reebok, Givenchy, Jaguar Cars, Gucci, and Revlon. 

Early Life

On the 30th of April 1985, Gal Gadot was born in Petah Tikva, Israel. Her father, Michael Gadot, is an engineer. In contrast, her mother, Iris Weiss, works as a physical education teacher. Gal also has a younger sister called Dana. Both girls were raised in a Jewish and secure environment. Gal’s parents did not allow her to watch TV. They wanted her to spend more time studying and playing. As a result, Gal was a bright and athletic student. She was a part of her school’s volleyball, basketball, and tennis team. From a young age, Gal loved to be the center of attention. She learned ballet, jazz, and hip-hop dance styles during her childhood. Gal dreamed of becoming a choreographer one day. However, acting never struck her mind. 

For schooling, Gal attended Begin High School. During her teenage years, she continued to dance. While majoring in biology, Gal started getting modeling offers. However, she was disinterested. Gal felt that making money by posing was not her type of thing. Later, she started working at Burger King while also being a babysitter. Throughout high school, Gal received many compliments for her beautiful looks. As a result, after graduating, Gal’s mother submitted Gal’s photo to the Miss Israel pageant. Eighteen-year-old Gal was not interested in competing in the beauty pageant. However, she got selected and entered the competition with low expectations.

Beginning of Career

Gal entered the Miss Israel beauty pageant while she still had time to go for her mandatory military service. She ended up winning the contest. The title of becoming Miss Israel made Gal feel overwhelmed. After winning the competition, she needed to represent Israel in Miss Universe 2004. Gal did not wish to go through the process. As a result, she did not follow the rules and regulations laid out by the Miss Universe committee. Gal did not wear make-up or the attire she was supposed to wear. At the time, famous American singer Paula Abdul was a part of the judging panel. Paula asked Gal a question, and Gal replied, “Sorry, English not so good.” Consequently, she did not qualify in the top 15. Shortly after the pageant, Gal enrolled in the military to complete her mandatory training. 

Initial Years

At the Israel Defense Forces, Gal served as a combat fitness instructor. After her two-year-long training, Gal opted for higher studies. She enrolled at Reichman University in Herzliya to study law. While she was at the university, the renowned international magazine Maxim featured Gal in its 2007 “Women of the Israeli Army” segment. Soon after that, Gal hired an agent. While she was in her second year at law school, a casting director from England flew to Israel in search of a new female lead in James Bond’s Quantum of Solace. The director contacted Gal’s agent for an audition. However, Gal did not wish to abandon her studies to pursue acting. But after her agent’s request, she hesitatingly agreed. Gal gave several auditions for the role and ended up getting a callback. One callback led to another, but Gal failed to appear as the Bong Girl.

Worldwide Recognition

After auditioning for Quantum of Solace, Gal finally realized that she wanted to pursue acting as a career. She dropped out of her college to begin her acting journey. In 2008, she made her debut with an Israeli TV show Bubot. The same year, Justin Lin cast her in Fast and Furious after watching her Quantum of Solace audition. There was no looking back for Gal after starring in the movie. During the early 2010s, she continued to star in supporting roles in mainstream movies. However, Gal’s most significant opportunity came in 2013. Zack Snyder cast her as Wonder Woman in the box office hit Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In 2017, Gal starred in the solo film Wonder Woman and gained worldwide recognition.
